Hey.

Having re-installed W2000 to my pc because of a series of crashes I ended up to a following problem: whenever I apply the full graphics acceleration (ATI Radeon 9600) the SW goes very slow, all the actions requiring at least 10 seconds respond time.

Reducing the acceleration to the 3rd notch from left (see the attached pic) helps the SW to work without any delays, but during model rotation all the round surfaces and curves go square, and the image quality is much worse all the time.

Updating display drivers doesn't help and I've already tried another graphics card of the same type without any improvement.

Any ideas, except for re-installing W2000 and SW once again?

Thanks!

Kimmo

Unfortunately I forgot to mention that before re-installing W2000 everything worked just fine for over a year, including the SW and image quality.

Which version of SW?

The best thing you can do is to replace the Radeon card. None of the Radeons are certified to run SW adequately. Even the lowest level nVIdia Quadro FX cards is better than any Radeon.

In the System Options>Performance for SW06, make sure you have enabled Use Software OpenGL.

The SW version is SW06, SP2 and W2000 is with SP4

My guess is that you ended up with a different version of the video card driver than you had on the previous install. If you could determine which one you had before, I would recommend going back to it.

Failing that, there are utilities / hacks which trick Windows into seeing a gaming card as a CAD card. RivaTuner is the one that I have used for NVIDIA cards, it may do the ATI cards as well.
