Hello everyone,

I know there isn't many people here but i'm trying anyway.

I'm actually working on a project that need us to calculate the clearance of a switch.

What will influence the distance between the rail and the end of the switch tie?

What are the needs to have longer or shorter connecting rod?

Google AREMA they have reams of material and design/layout info. on these matters. They, or the railroads themselves, or the AAR are the go-to people on these issues. Some of the railroads have some of their own standards which may vary a little from the normal industry standards.

Also, check with some of the hardware suppliers, they often have good information on clearances. I don't do rail... but, I've been involved with a little of it on some of my projects.
