Hello,

When preparing a spec for switchgear when and where do you require stripheaters; and how do you size them?

I can forsee a situation where the equipment is being fed by an unpolarised cord. If the neutral and hot are interchanged then you can get a feed through the neutral-ground connection in the onboard lighting panel. This may trip a breaker somewhere or it may heat up the whole mobile switchgear.
Rather than trying to make it safe under all conditions, consider a second strip heater energized by the 120 volt plug.
Two strip heaters and two completely seperate supply systems with no interconnection.
