Hi guys,
Ran accross something today I never new existed. A new supplier of ours (just got their S stamp) provided me with a SWPS for GTAW welding. The form appears to have been filled out correctly however no mention of stress relieving, F number etc can be found on this form. In addition to the SWPS, I was given a copy of ANSI/AWS B2.1-207-96 standard welding procedure spec (WPS)for GTAW welding of C/S (M-1/P-1/S-1 group 1 or 2, good for 1/8"~ 1.5". The info that needs to be there is there for what we are doing.
They intend to use this documentation to support the root pass welding of section 1 work that requires PWHT. This documentation in lieu of using a the typical wps/ pqr documentation I am familiar with.
This doesnt appear to be something new as I found the form in an older code but have no experience with it and I have been around this stuff awhile. Is this document acceptble to above conditions for ASME work even though it was created by AWS? This equipment will ultimately be going into Canada.
