Hey everyone!

I'm hoping to modify the means by which AutoCAD references symbols. Per my company's standard, we use a "RomanD" font. When referencing 'Plate' (\U+214A) and 'Centerline' (\U+2104) symbols, a "ISOPEUR" font is used to produce them, and I do not like the way it looks. Per the character map, both "ISOPEUR" and others ("Simplex," for example) use the same U+2104 centerline code. Could I ask or trick my system into inserting a "Simplex" rather than a "ISOPEUR" symbol?

Thank you in advance!

Thanks a lot for the response. I am learning quite a bit from the link! I suppose I need to clarify my question...I understand that I can use unicode for a variety of fonts, but I'm hoping to change the pecking order for a font's default unicode.

In the example above, let's use RomanD. This particular font does not have a "Plate" or "Centerline" symbol, so the system defaults to ISOPEUR. Rather than defaulting to ISOPEUR, can I request that the system finds a different font as a default, and ignores ISOPEUR when I'm using RomanD?

Thanks again -

You can set another font for the default text style (see the STYLE command) but please note that the linetypes refer styles, not fonts.

As far as I can find out, that is not possible. ISOPEUR is apparently hardwired into the application as the go-to font for missing symbols.

RomanS.shx was updated in 2004 by Adesk to include the additional symbols, butRomanD, RomanT, and RomanC were ignored.

What you can do, is use the CharacterMap tool in Windows Accessories to copy a paste a different symbol character in from a different TrueType font.
