Symetry 3pt bending

Hi,

I am working with my master thsis. In this thesis I have a long composite beam (hollow) that is going to be bent in a three point bending test. Is there any boundary conditions you can apply that uses symetry. So you can simulate half of the beam in lenght direction? (symmetry around the load applicator)
I have googled alot, but stangely I cant find anything on this topic.

Hi!

If you are fully sure that material and cross section properties of the beam are symmetric with respect to the mid plane of the beam, then you can do the following:

Apart from material and structure symmetry, there must be symmetry in the geometry and loading condition.
