HEllo everyone,

Can someone explain for what reason a symmetrical multistorey building would exprees first modal shape as torsion?

Little explanation of the model: 8 story steel building with central concrete core. Because of the stiffnes of the concrete core additional bracing are not needed. The concrete core is of a rectangular shape with oppeings for entrance. Everything is symmetrical, so would not expect this to happen.

Can anyone suggest what can be done to avoid this without adding bracing, which would make the building much sttifer. Also has this anything to do with coupled and uncoulped walls?

Thank you in advance![bigsmile]
