I am trying to set up a new file management system for my new employer, they previously had none. I am using Document Number as part number and Title as part name. These fields are being entered in the 3D environment. For searching and ease of use, I would like those properties to sync with the file properties of the draft file. This way, if someone is searching for a part name, they can find the draft. Is there a way to get these two environments to sync their properties?

Thanks!

Yes.

When editing your draft template (the background sheet), use the CALLOUT function instead of a TEXTBOX.

Within the Callout function, there is a button for inserting PROPERTY TEXT. Use that to link part properties to the face of the drawing.
NOTE: As of ST8, the TEXTBOX function does allow for inserting PROPERTY TEXT, too. After you click to start the location of the text, there is a button on the far right of the Command Bar to insert Symbols, Characters, or Property Text.

Swertel, I nearly said the same thing but then I re-read the OP and I'm not sure that's what hes actually asking for.

Swertel, thanks, but not really what I'm looking for. I know how to callout properties on the draft. What I want to know is how to populate the draft file properties with the same file properties as it's linked 3D file. If I am in a draft, I want to be able to go to the "File Properties" under the Solid Edge button and have them automatically fill in. This way the "Document Number" and "Title" and "Revision" will be the same as it's linked part. I don't want to have to fill out these fields twice.

Also for reference, my company is running ST5.

Thanks for your responses.

Just run Property Manager while in the draft with the property columns that interest you showing and copy from the part fields and paste in the draft fields. Not automagic but pretty darned simple and fast. If you make the columns consecutive you can do it in one operation.
