Hi,
Wondering if anyone can assist me. We have a 1.8MW Emergency generator that we usually carryout 3 weekly load runs on, normal practice is to auto synch with main generation.
My question is we have a power management system controlling the main generators to a pre set base load 95% of there rated capacity, auto controlling all usual active/reactive power parameters.
I have no issues manually synchronising the emergency - the only problem is as it doesn't constitute part of the power management system in manual I can raise/lower governor set point/increase or decrease frequency but will I have to worry about reactive power flow here given generator size 1.8MW? I can control the reactive power by increasing/decreasing the excitation but how will I monitor this with no VAR meter/p.f meter......? Any tips from the experts.....?
