system loss curve-transor filtration system

Hi all,

How can i go about calculating a system loss curve for a grinding machine with a transor filtration system?

I have the SG of the solution / viscosity of the fluid.

The outlet to the pump is 3/4inch that is increased to 1.25'' back down to 1.00''. This piping is then connected to coolant flutes that are 3mm.

How do i deal with friction losses?

Will i have to know the orientation of the obstruction meters?

We are in the process of revamping our system so we can control each pump for each machine.

any insight would be helpful.

yes. filtration pumps pump fluid to the machines and the machines have pumps of thier own that pump back to the filtration system to be filtered
 
Not sure what type of recirculating system that you have but here is an example of a simple system.

You piping should be sized so that particles do not settle out in the piping. That velocity is approximately 3-4 ft/sec (0.9-1.2 m/sec). The overall head loss over the length of piping will probably not be significant unless you have an extensive pipe length.

At the return to the reservoir, you will have a back pressure control regulator on the pipe return that will maintain the pressure in your recirculation loop.


For example, if you need to maintain 60 psi in the recirculating loop, you set the backpressure regulator at 60 psi.

The recirculating pump needs to be sized for a total flow that will maintain the recirculating flow plus the flow out of each take off pump. The pump discharge pressure should be 60 psi plus the head loss in the recirculating loop.
