System low voltage change 208 V to 380 V

Dear all,

in an installation the utility is the changing the low voltage distribution system voltage from 208 V to 380 V to cope with international standards.

Anybody has any literature or recommendations concerning the change of the distribution system assets to cope with this change.

In an installation that I worked at, the utility changed the incoming distribution voltage from 13.2kV to 23.47kV. They had to provide a stepdown transformer to provide us with 13.2kV since our contract stated that was the voltage to be delivered.

It would seem to me that this would be the case for you as well. They will (should) provide you with a 380-208V transformer on your incoming line. If for some reason the installation has to bear the cost of the change, the single stepdown transformer at the service entrance is the only cost effective solution.
