As per "GUIDELINE ON LOCATING MATERIALS IN STRESS TABLES, AND
IN TABLES OF MECHANICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES" given in ASME SEC. IID,

Table 2A is to be used for class 1 equipment of ASME SEC. VIII DIV 2.

Table 5A is to be used for ASME SEC. VIII DIV 2..

So if equipment is class 1, can I use Table 5A instead of using 2A?

My understanding is that :
1.when equipment is class 2, Table 5A is to be used.
2.when equipment is class 1, Table 2A is to be used.

No.

Correct.

Note that Table 2A/B does not go into the creep regime. There is a Code Case under construction that will correct that issue.
