Dear all, I have one question regarding the tests on materials in the table 323.3.1 of ASME B31.3. In A-1, the number of tests is the greater of the number required by (a) material specification or (b) the applicable specification listed in para. 323.3.2. What would be the material specification? The applicable specifications, we have ASTM A333, A334, A420, A350, A352, A320 and A20.I can´t see the difference between one and another.

Thanks

The material specification can be either ASTM A XXX, or ASME SA XXX or another material specification from an international standard. The material specification listed in paragraph 323.3.2 are material specifications where impact testing is specified for the material Grade/Type.

If no impact testing is required, the number of tests are as defined in the ASTM/ASME Materials specifications including the additional specifications referenced by the individual materials specification.
