If I have a square with a filleted edge, what options are there in assy to have something mated tanget to the fillet edge & the flat surface? The only way I found to be able to do this is to create a cut or extrude for those 2 surfaces using fit spline. Is there another way to accomplish this?

Thanks

yes. that is what I want to do. I want to mate an object tangent to those 2 surfaces but SW only allows to mate tangent to one or the other. The only way to make it work is to create a cut or extrude using a fit spline, which combines those 2 surfaces. I was hoping there was an easier way to combine/knit/merge those 2 surfaces so I can mate them both to the other part in assy & be able to move that part along both surfaces. So far, I only found to use spline will work.

To clarify, you are trying to have a feature of Part A, remain 'attached' to either the flat surface (square) or the curved surface (fillet) of Part B, when one of the parts is moved. Is that correct?

Well, I'm talking about 2 parts in an assy. Part A is a 1x1 extruded square with a .25 fillet edge. Part B is an extruded circle. I want the Part B circle to remain tangent & be able to move (in assy) along Part A fillet edge & the flat surface of the square. I can only mate to either the flat surface or the fillet, not both...unless I create a spline. Then I can move that circle across the top flat surface & around the surface of the fillet. I was just wondering if this can be done another way instead of going back into my Part A part & creating the spline.

It sounds like what you're looking for might be the "cam" mate.

You can't have an 'or' mate (tangent to the round or the flat). Cam or path mates may work for you.
