Good day, everyone.

I am currently designing a Fixed-roof type of tank. I am curious on what are the parameters we usually assume in designing a tank? Also, how do we calculate or how do we size the inlet and discharge line of a tank? In calculating the pipe size of the tank's discharge line, do I need to make a mechanical energy balance from the tank I will design to the second tank where it will be transferred, or i can just make a mechanical energy balance around the tank I will design?

Thank you

Eh?

Inlets and outlets are usually sized at 1 to 1.5 m/ sec.

Mechanical energy balance?? Please explain.

@LittleInch Can i assume the velocity of 1 to 1.5 m /sec regardless of the fluid (e.g. glycol)?

Ps. I apologize if my question is a little bit weird as I am still an undergraduate.

Yes, but if you are a student you should be posting in the Student forum.
