Hi All.

I need some ideas on how to support some large horizontal tanks. The area of the two saddles (13'6" by 10") that the tanks sit in give a ground load of 17,800 lbs/ft2.

Since the tanks may not be in place for very long I'd like to stay away from concrete footings.

The spot that I'd like to set them is an asphalt parking lot.

Are there any options that make sense?

What is a reasonable ground load to shoot for?

I would just put thick plywood underneath to take care the rough edges and fix the asphalt after.

Perhaps check into the wooden mats of various types that they rent out to crane companies for similar reasons.

the current saddle is 13.5 ft x 10" so if you use 13.5ft x 30"x 10" youll reduce your pressure to 1/3. I guess use 13.5ft x 2.5ft of plywood and stack it to 10". That will give you pressure about 6000psf. If you want more, just make it wider and thicker and keep the 45degree load spread.
