I have an Aluminum blower that has TCE fume passing through it at roughly 2500ppm at a flow rate of 600cfm. The blower wheel and housing is Aluminum. The wheel and fan internals have a surface area of approximately 7.5sqft.

I am trying to calculation a rough estimate of rate of corrosion. The unit has ran for about 2 months and shows a greenish oxidize inside which appears scaled over. Curious to know if the oxidize act to stop or slow the rate of corrosion of if i would expect continued corrosion.

Any advise is appreciated.

Refer to the attached page, extracted from NACE corrosion data survey.
the two solid dots show corrosion rate of less than 0.05mm/year at ambient temperature -18-38 °C.
the two hollow dots show corrosion rate of less than 0.5 mm/year at 38-93°C.
Both cases are at 100% TCE concentration.
Question: Can you measure the reduction in wall thickness, by scrappping a part of the fan then do UT check?
