Hi,

As a student I'm about to embark on my first larger scale project, which will require coordination of editing multiple parts/products within a team.

Does anyone have any advice on good practice for this?

Also, as we have no infrastructure, I was hoping to be able to use Dropbox to host files. Does anyone know if this is possible? Or will the continual updating muck up products?

Cheers,
J

Probably should also be free, than probably github could be what you need, although main purpose is to develop software. Or even better, maybe grabcad: . In my opinion, Dropbox will prove to be not efficient.

As advice, start with SAM (space allocation mockup) for the concept and first modelling of the components, assign part numbers for your components (using a collaborative excel type file), create some kind of revision system, do not allow to all the right to make changes in the master assembly.

If you will use github or grabdcad, post a link.
