Hi everyone,

My company is beginning to use Teamcenter vis Mockup as a method to get design illustrations to the shop floor. The Models are designed in PROE and converted to JT files. They are then to be used to create snapshots for use as work instructions.

Does anyone know of a way to export a bill of material (with indents or a parent part field) into a text file? The part report function only exports each instance of all items at the part level.

What i need is a fully expanded BOM just as it appears in the model tree window - but in a text file so it can be manipulated - crosschecked etc.

We hope to use this as a check to ensure all parts are accounted for.

I have played around with the 3D comparison tool - is there a way to generate a report of common and uncommon parts in that comparison?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I can't answer the question directly, but I have seen it done from the PDE to an excel spreadsheet.

Of course the BOM from any partlist on a drawing from within NX can also be easily exported to a spreadsheet, as can the contents of the ANT. You asked for Teamcenter specifically and I would just let you know that while I'm unsure of how it may be done as a text file I have seen it done into excel.

Thanks for the response! Excel would be fine too - i just figured a text file was the appropriate export format.

I'm a little new to the teamcenter package - What is PDE? and ANT?

NX is the design software right? an equivalent to PROE?

Sorry we're always speaking to the converted here in the forum. The ANT is the Assembly Navigation Tool within NX. We normally run NX under Teamcenter so the two seem to go naturally together. The PDE is the Bill of Materials editor within Teamcenter. I think the acronym may be Product Description Editor, but like you I think we all probably need to check the AL.
