I’m trying to determinate Teflon content and distribution over a Nickel Plating by SEM/EDX that should be between 15-20 %, but I didn’t find a standard or document to perform the testing I wonder at how many magnifications must be used to do this test. this plating is made of teflon-nickel co-deposits but i wonder if the quantitative measurement of the teflon is done at 100x such as a inclution rating procedure or if there is any standard to follow.

I do not believe a standard exists for evaluation of area fraction (or volume fraction, mass fraction, etc.) of a co-deposit like nickel/teflon. However, the standard method is to use a metallographic cross-section such as that described in ASTM B 487 and then count the teflon particles as a fraction of the area. The magnification, # of locations to sample, etc. really should be agreed upon with your customer.
