Hi,

Is there any way for calculating temperature changing rate in a reactor?

Would be grateful for getting any help.

Many Thanks.

Are you asking about dT/dt or d[sup]2[/sup]T/dt[sup]2[/sup]? Both can be done numerically/digitally and "in process" as long as temperature is measured and recorded. I would recommend having at least two independent temperature measurements. Talk to your automation folks and/or programmers.

Good luck,

To a ChE, the glass is always full - 1/2 air and 1/2 water.

Thanks Latexman for your input.

It can be done by your mentioned procedure if I have enough data.
If I want to find it by using heat of reaction (exothermic reaction) for a certain period of time would it be possible to get temperature change?

Thanks.

Sure, an unsteady-state material and energy balance will give you an estimate of temperature change. It requires a good working knowledge of the rate of reaction. There may be some simplifying assumptions, but we know nothing of your process.

Good luck,
Latexman
