I'm using template parts that I've created in NX7.5 which has a kinematic machine and post associated to it. The template is being used when entering the Manufacturing Application to bring in the necessary Methods, UDE's and Geometry. Everything works great for creating, posting and simulating the Milling or Turning tool paths BUT it will not allow me to insert a Probing operation. I've checked this with several other template files (NX6,NX7 as well) that I've used and they all error out when inserting a Probing operation. Using the NX templates (CAM_general, Lathe, Mill_contour, etc.) I can insert Probing and get posted output. But, once I try to retrieve a machine for simulation, it gives me errors. Is there a change that needs to happen to the machine kinematics or the post?

What template type and subtype are you using to insert the probe operation?

Mark,

When adding an operation I am using Probing for Type and Probing or Generic Motion as a Subtype.

That is a problem with generic motion. I have an ir\pr now in on this Mark, #6363316.

Shag72,

Are you having the same problem of not being able to insert Probing ops when there is a kinematic machine associated with the file?

Steve

I personally am not using the probing but this is an issue with generic motion, which the probing modules (which I am assuming you are using) is just a hybrid gen mot op. for some reason when you go into the op it looks to the post for I am not sure what and then errors when it finds a variable that is not set. This var not being set makes sense in that the post is not actually running at the time and thus not set or doesn't exist. If you look in your log file all the way at the bottom it will tell you the error and in it, it will most likely say some var doesn't exist. Rarely if you source it will say command doesn't exist or invalid command. If you do this with null or generic machine you will be able to add the op but if you have carriers or other things linked to a machine it will lose those. This is fresh in my mind right now as I just went through this with GTAC. Call them and report it.
