Hi,

We are working on a steel building project and we are taking care of the temporary erection cable bracing for wind resistance. This type of system is new to us, so we are looking for some type of design guideline on how to design the following:

1. How are the cable braces and corresponding connections designed for wind applications? How is the wind pressure determined?

2. What type of bracing configuration is typically used in the field? X-bracing?

3. How is the bracing location within plan determined? Is there spacing requirements between the bracing locations?

4. What are some of the typical end connection details that are used?

Thus far, we've made reference to AISC Design Guide 10 - "Erection Bracing of Low-Rise Structural Steel Buildings" which has provided some good information, but we are still unclear on the items mentioned above. Any other reference documents or relevant information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

There is an ASCE 37, Design Loads On Structures During Construction.
Some of those questions need to be coordinated with the erector.
