Temporary lateral bracing during construction

Who is responsible for designing and providing the temporary lateral bracing for wood framing during construction? Is it the contractor's responsibility? Does the IBC (or any other code) address this?

Definitely builder. I've never even had them ask a question. I don't think it's ever even been designed on any of my jobs, the framers just put bracing where they think it's needed.

If the framing is form work for concrete for a major project, and engineer will sometimes be required to design it by the local jurisdiction, DOT, whatever, including the lateral bracing. Been there, done that...

I don't actually have an IRC. I really don't need it. But I do remember seeing it in there years ago. It has to be in there, because you could theoretically "design" a house from it, without any other publication.

The old UBC's had it too.

I remember it went something like, "shall provide at the end of each major elevation wall", etc.

Light metal bracing or 2x4 bracing

The definition of a structural engineer: overdesign by a factor of 1.999, instead of the usual 2.
