Hi,
I will be performing a calculation for a temporary support stand for a rebar cage for beams and column rebar assembly. The desired support is not fixed at the bottom. Construction has been using it for a long time with no issues but our client would want to stop the work and have an engineer to produce a supporting calculation to make sure it is safe.
I will be changing that rebar to a more sturdier member and make the ends to take moment. So the base is just taking compression and shear. The shear will be taken care of friction.
I was thinking of having to add some rubber bearing pad at the bottom for friction. Any ideas on what type of material I can call out and whats your experience on it?
I would appreciate any input or feedback or past experience that you may be able to give.
