Dear Abaqus users,
I am trying to model an isotropic elastic material using chained wires (independent parts) in abaqus/explicit. When modelling the wires I alter the element type to be a T3D2: A 2-node linear 3-D truss and have assigned the material a mass density: 1.5E-009, young's moduls: 350 MPa, and poisson's ratio: 0.4.
The simulation runs well using these parameters; however, when I edit the material to have no compression (i.e. tension-only) the analysis immediately aborts with the message:
ERROR: THIS KEYWORD IS NOT AVAILABLE IN Abaqus/Explicit
LINE IMAGE: *nocompression
***NOTE: DUE TO AN INPUT ERROR THE ANALYSIS PRE-PROCESSOR HAS BEEN UNABLE TO
INTERPRET SOME DATA. SUBSEQUENT ERRORS MAY BE CAUSED BY THIS OMISSION
Are tension-only wires not compatible with abaqus/explicit? If the answer is yes, does anyone know of another way to model tension-only wires while retaining the correct material properties?
I appreciate any help!
Many Thanks
