Anyone know where I can find a 9 post terminal block to install in the conduit box of an electric motor. Our customer does not want to make the wire to wire connections with the motor leads. The motors are 9-lead, 3-phase, dual-voltage.

I have seen this terminal block setup used quite often on European motors. The power leads are connected to the block and jumber bars are used to switch between high and low voltage. The block and motor leads are usually potted into the conduit box.

I am looking for the block, jumper bars, wire terminals, etc. Any input would be appreciated.

Try looking at what are called "Euro-strips", which are nylon (?) trimable to length multipole terminal strips. Many of these have 600 VAC ratings, and have finger safe (recessed) screw terminals. My shop stocks these in 12 pole versions, about 5" L, with each side of the terminal strip able to accept 12 AWG wire. Other sizes and lengths are of course available. The elec supply houses stock all of these (Newark, Allied, Mouser, Digi-Key)

I guess the first question is 'How big is the motor?'.

Your best bet is probably one of the small rewind shops. They usually have a 'scrap bin' full of leftovers and spare parts from all manner of motors. You might get it as a freebie if your customer already uses their services.

I appreciate its on the other side of the Atlantic but these people are very good for that sort of thing. There must be similar outfits in the US. Try the Rewind industry supply companies.

Hello Casey,

For terminal blocks, look for IEC Motor´s manufacturers in USA, Leeson and Leroy Sommer could help you.

Take acount the motor´s Frame size in order to guarantee the motor´s ampacity. You could use a SIX TERMINAL BLOCK.
