Hello everyone.
I have a doubt about the imposed load on a terrace.

Eurocode imposes a load between 2.5 and 4 kN/m². Should I consider the terrace as a balcony? Or I have to consider it as a outside normal floor?

Thanks in advance for clarify my doubt.

If it can be used as a place of refuge in the event of a fire I would design it as such. In Ontario, that would be 4.8 kPa for LL which would be identical to considering it as a balcony (ditto for being a place where people can gather for a view).

I always take 4kPa for these things. Wait til you see the size of the planter boxes the client brings in!

If accessible to public or more than one apartment our office treat it as cat.C5 area with 5kN/m2 and not a balcony in cat.A as you have implied.
