terramodel hardware lock 1

I have been using terramodel, which requires a hardware lock, for over twenty years. Now the newer computers don't even have a parallel port for the lock. My new computer is a laptop HP Pavillion, and if anyone has a sugestion to how to solve my problem, I'd appreciate it. I contacted the Sentinnel lock manufacturer, and they were no help. I also do not have a support agreement with Terramodel.

there are several usb to serial converters (as well as usb to parallel converters) available at Comp USA, MicroCenter, etc.
