Test locations in Steel Casting.

Hi everyone. I'm currently working on manufacturing a 17-4PH casting (investment casting). But I have doubts about de test specimens from casting because this is a new project for me. The question is: How do I know where to get the test specimens from casting (no separately cast bar)? What orientation, what zones? find attached a image about piece. Could someone help me?

Likewise, how to establish the tension values for machined specimens from casting? There are always values given for separately cast bars but not for specimens cut from casting

The property requirements are the same, it doesn't matter if they are cut from the casting or separate bars.
How will the castings be heat treated?
What is the variation is wall thickness (min/max)?
What direction are the loads?

The casting will be treated by solubilization, solution and aging in accordance with AMS 5355.

The variation in wall thickness are 1 1/1" min / 2 1/4" max.

The component is subject to radial loads. Perpendicular to axial axys (find attached a image).

I have these doubts cause I've read that the test specimens cut from casting have lower values than those machined from test coupons (i.e. keel block) and I don't know the zones that I should consider to cut and machined for test specimens. This inspections is for a first article report.

I presume that the 2.25" section is thick enough to allow you to take tangential test bars out of it.
If samples from casting have lower properties, then your test blocks were either cost wrong or heat treated wrong.
The properties should be fairly consistent.
When we needed high toughness we would anneal, age (usually 1100F), and then re-anneal.
This results in grain refinement and a slight loss of strength on re-aging.
I presume that all of the machining will be done on the annealed casting with aging being done last.
