Testing of Rubber Hoses used in Car ( Turbo to Intercooler)

Does every quantity of rubber hoses undergo various testing process like thermal testing,vibration testing etc.. are only specific quanties per lot will be picked to undergo such tests.

I'd suspect that depends on the individual companies quality procedures..

Don't know for sure, but I wouldn't think 100% inspection. That kind of thing is agreed upon during the early stages of what they call PPAP.

You need talk with your supplier about what testing goes on during the manufacturing process. If the testing doesn't meet your requirements then you will have to add to the print and spell out what testing you required. A standardized specification can be written and called out on the part print. As the designer of a part you can request whatever you want in testing but expect to pay for the testing.

Given the temperature at a turbo compressor outlet, I'm not sure I'd want to see rubber hoses used between there and the intercooler. If geometry or other considerations make rubber necessary, I'd investigate the reinforced silicone hoses sometimes used in marine exhaust systems.

I.e., if you are melting hoses, you need a much different hose, not a different inspection protocol.

In my experience, rubber hoses are always used on both sides of the intercooler. The intercooler is usually mounted off the frame, and the turbo compressor is usually mounted off of the engine block so you need to accommodate movement and misalignment.

That said, temperature and oil mist is a big deal in the long run reliability. Rubber couplers between the compressor and intercooler are a service item for this reason.

To the original question, I would not expect 100% inspection on these couplers. They are not part of the space suit, which is one of the few categories of flexible / woven product that do justify 100% testing/inspection.
