testing of surge arrestor

I have some question about testing of high tension surge arrestor at site condition. The reason for the question is that we are trying use back some surge arrestor which are 4 years old in some switchyard ? We want to do some checking on the surge arrestor ? What kind of test can be done to establish whether they still are in working condition ?
