Tests to conduct on building structures after an explosion

An explosion caused by stored explosives in my area caused the copllapse of some buildings and extensive damages to some. What are the necessary tests that can be conducted on the rest of the buildings in the area to ascertain their suitability for habitation?

You would need to get a structual engineer involved to assess the buildings/structures and then a good demolition/dismantlement contractor to remove the structurally unsound buildings/structures and shore up any salvageable structures.

Hi Orefad:

I'm not sure you will find any rule book to guide you on this one. Dkozul is right in saying you will need a structural engineer. Testing might range from visual and NDT through to full-scale load tests. There are engineers who evaluate earthquake-damaged buildings, and they may be valuable help, but a bomb-blast is different from an earthquake.
