I have several assemblies that I need to draw for drawing packs to release to a customer. The customer has a specific requirement as to the format of the part labeling they would like to see on the drawing. I am trying to automate the labeling process as much as psosible.

So far, I have been able to automatically create balloons with part numbers in them. I only need a portion of the number though, so that isn't enough for me.

I am also able to create a text template witht eh proper formatting for my drawings that will automatically populate the correct part number. Same problem as above.

I can automatically extract the proper portion of my string using a function. However, I haven't figured out how to do this within the text template.

Any help or suggestinos out there?

kbro151 - it might simplify things to create an additional parameter that holds the extracted information.

db, I've thought about that, but the parameter would have to be part of the template if I wanted it to automatically update. I can't figure out how to run a formula on the assigned template value and spit the result out as the template.

If I made the parameter part of the drawing, I would have to make a unique parameter for each of the text template insertions. That would take me more time than I'm saving.
