About two years ago I asked for help with a game unit I was doing for a museum application:


This thread is now closed. Covid and other factors delayed the project but I eventually got it done. Here are the photos of the final unit I said I'd post. I did not design the final mechanism but it did include some features that were suggested here. It's probably hard to see, but there was a scalloped wheel behind the main wheel that the user rotated. An arm pushed down into the low spots ion the calliope perimeter and brought the wheel to a stop. I would have added the door closer that was suggested here, in order to delay the stop and let the wheel spin free longer, but it came out okay.

BTW, I had he game tokens 3D printed.

Here's the front. You can see the edges of the light blue colored wheel on both sides.

This shot was taken from below. The yellow part is the arm that is forced down into the scalloped recesses of the wheel. The top left of that arm is the pivot.
