good day everyone

i have a mathematical model in form of equations to calculate the fracture energy,
what are the steps to follow to use these equations in abaqus in order to do a numerical modeling of my problem.

Best regards

Sorry but your question is too vague.

Model what? You can have a crack in pretty much anything.

Hi
Yes, i have a notched specimen(CT or SENT), and i have to determine rhe energy parameter J when dealing with fracture of a plastic material. The energy parameter J is expressed in a form of equation in which a geometrical parameter and the crack length.
so, what are the steps to follow to determine numerically this parameter.

thanks for your help.

If you have never used Abaqus or any other FEA solver before I would recommend going through the tutorials first.

Abaqus is capable of simulating monotonic crack propagation via a method known as XFEM, again I suggest working through the tutorials.

i'm using abaqus and i know that the crack propagation may be effected by XFEM, but i don't know if this methode requires a subroutine
or it exists Handy in abaqus.

thanks sir.

The only way you will know is to read the documentation.

It maybe that your particular material is not covered in Abaqus & you will have to write your own subroutine but the only way you will know that is to read the documentation & work through the tutorials.
