Hi all,

I'm using Abaqus standard to do some heat-transfert simulations. The simulations works perfectly but in order to analyse the results, i would like to compute the average temperature of some parts on my model (as a measure of the total energy stored).

The problem is that theorically, the mean temperature is not simply the mean of the nodes temperatures, since I have a non regular meshing (some elements a lot bigger than others). Ideally, I would need a temperature per element, and then a mean to compute the element capacitance (volume * density * specific heat). But i wasn't able to get these as a field output, to then compute the capacitance * temperature field, which I could average more simply.

Does anyone have a idea on how to do such a post-processing ?

Thanks in advance,

You can use „Volume Weighted Average Temperature” plug-in. It will account for element’s volume. Elset can be chosen for this operation.

It’s described in the documentation chapter „Finding the average temperature of a set of elements”.

Thanks for the tip, I just needed to output the TEMP and IVOL datas !

Yes, these two variables are also needed for the aforementioned plug-in that uses them to solve what you do manually.
