Hi all
I am doing Thermal Analysis of Gate valve in ANSYS as per API 6 FA test. I want to simulate the real conditions.
My Test Conditions are to be-
1.Flame exposure to valve at 1800 F for 30 mins
Now I want to simulate the same model so that I may get temp Profile surrounding the seal.
I have attached the Geometry here.
Please tell me how to approach the problem. Which heat Transfer Boundary conditions should I take? Whether I should do it in Transient Thermal or using CFD. If CFD to be used then any resources which I can refer to?

CFD will only be necessary if you want to analyze the influence of fluid motion on heat transfer and vice versa. Otherwise you can treat your fluid as stationary and perform regular thermal analysis. You will still be able to simulate heat transfrer between fluid and solid but without motion of the former.

When it comes to BCs I suggest using prescribed temperature or heat flux on the areas subjected to fire.

@FEA Way - Is it possible to put Convection Heating and Cooling on the same body Surface ?
