Anyone know where I can find thermal coefficients of A514 and A588? I think they are slightly different and I am having both welded toogether.

Thanks in advance.

Jay.

What exactly are you interested in thermal conductivity or thermal diffusivity? Also, what specific temperature or range of temperature?

I have a welded structure made up of both A514 and A588 steels.

I am interested in determining the thermal stresses that will be produced when this structure is exposed to a temperature range of -10°C to 50°C.

Also, if you need coefficients of thermal expansion - you need to specify a temperature range.

The linear coefficient of thermal expansion for A 514 (all Grades of plates) and A588 (HSLA plates) will be approximately the same.

Source; ASME Section II, Part D, Table TE-1

Thanks very much for you help.

From 70 deg F to 150 deg F, the mean coefficient of thermal expansion is approximately 6.5 X 10^-6 in/in deg F for both A 514 and A 588 plate steels based on nominal composition grouping of materials in Section II, Part D. I don't have access to data below 70 deg F.
