Thermal spray market

Dear fellow engineers

I am interested to hear your views on the current market for thermal spray technology and if it is losing market share to other more modern coating technologies? I refer here to flame, arc and HVOF commonly used systems.

Probably, it depends on the industry. We are being instructed by a customer in the gas industry, to do thermally sprayed aluminium on our stainless steel parts. I have not seen actual parts yet. So far, I would not do this unless I was told to.

probably they have pitting on the parts, but in general I wonder if there is enough work in this line of business. thanks

Rotating equipment uses HVOF all the time.

I imagine anybody that repairs shafts is going to use HVOF.
