Thin sheet metal manufacture - threaded inserts versus built-in threads

I need to add threads to my thin sheet metal (1mm thickness). The options as far as I understand are
A) Designate locations for threaded inserts which can be added later with pressure/force/etc
B) Do built-in inserts which only extends the thickness of the sheet metal only around the hole

Also in terms of accuracy and cost-efficiency, if someone is aware of the differences, would love to hear opinions

Valeriya Volkov,

Probably, your best approach is to specify thread inserts, and call these up on your fabrication drawings. Find out what fasteners your fabricators keep in stock. It is possible to punch a hole with an extruded edge, giving you reasonable length for your tapped hole. Your fabricator will tell you if this is a good idea or not. You can use self-tapping screws.

How strong do your tapped holes have to be? How cheap do you need to be?
