Here is the thought

I am currently working on a project and have a great deal of trouble finding any type of standards or even information on thread data for threads used in the optical industry.

The engineering handbook has no information and there sizes are not even in there.

I'm looking for information on M34 X P1.0 and 1.035" -40. Can't find the major and minor diameters and pitch diameter.

Well, ideally you'd have the relevant thread spec e.g ASME B1.13M in the US for metric B1.1 Unified and work from the equations given there for non standard threads - if they truly are non standard.

There are plenty of metric thread calculators if you do a search - just be careful trusting any thing free on the internet as it may be worth what you paid for it.

As for unified 'special' threads faq404-1480

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)

chemionix,

I have found good information on Wikipedia on C-mount camera threads. I have not really searched for anything else.

Are these optical standards, or are they UN or metric threads in weird configurations? To my thinking, M60[×]0.5 is a weird thread unless I am clamping a lens, something I do quite a bit. It still is a standard metric thread form. Your machine shop may be happier if he gets to make both the male and female threads, testing them to assure they fit.

chemionix - If you are looking for standard metric fine M34 x 1, M60 x 0.5 - here is your data:
M34x1 Internal
5H - Pitch dia. min. 33.350, max. 33.482
6H - Pitch dia. min. 33.350, max. 33.520
7H - Pitch dia. min. 33.350, max. 33.562
M34x1 External
4h - Pitch dia. max. 33.350, min. 33.270
6g - Pitch dia. max. 33.324, min. 33.199
8g - Pitch dia. max. 33.324, min. 33.124

M60x0.5 Internal
5H - Pitch dia. min. 59.675, max. 59.787
M60x0.5 External
4h - Pitch dia. max. 59.675, min. 59.608
6g - Pitch dia. max. 59.655, min. 59.549

For Microscopes etc. I could find only DIN 58 888 - RMS (used to be W 0.8" x 1/32) 55 deg.
Internal Pitch dia. max. 19.994, min. 19.868
External Pitch dia. max, 19.822, min, 19.746

Hope this helps.

Thanks you guys for helping i got the relevant info needed..
