Anyone milling threads? Success or failure?

GTAC says "Hole or Boss threading with helical/linear engage/retract with/without cutcom is working", NX7.5.4.4 and up.

Comments, please. Thanks.

[green]To the Toolmaker, your nice little cartoon drawing of your glass looks cool, but your solid model sucks. Do you want me to fix it, or are you going to take all week to get it back to me so I can get some work done?[/green]

I have used threadmill successfully, but prefer to create the helix curve myself and use a "curve and point" tool path within fixed axis contour.

Thanks colemanimal, that has been my workaround, too.

Has anyone done any recent internal/external thread milling, using the thread milling operation, NX7.5.4.4 and up? Any cutcomp issues? Linear or helical ramp on/off?

I have done some internal thread milling in NX 7.5.5.4
Using a helical engage and cutter comp. The only issue I have found with cutcom is when the engage is set to Start From Center you need to set the minimum move on the Cutter Comp tab to 0.0. It still outputs the cutter comp on a linear move from the center of the hole to the start of the helical engage.

So far it is working OK.

Have not had the oppertunity to do any external threads yet.

I would be glad to give you a hand.
