Hi Ted,
Thanks for that...I assume any 1/2" will have a TPI of 14 then? Or do I need to mention this, too?

No need to mention. NPT are listed in the Machinist Handbook. This can be a valuable reference.

No need to state 14TPI if threads are to ANSI/ASME tapered pipe thread standard.

But you MUST state that you are quoting 1/2 NPT (pipe threads) in your request ..

Straight (mechanical) 1/2 threads are defined at 13 TPI.
