Does anyone have a supplier/source for a thread chaser and verify unit. I need a unit to verify the M8 threads on a front sub-assembly. The unit will be placed in cell with an automated robot. The robot will place the front sub-assembly in a fixture where the unit is located. Currently we have operators manually chasing the threads. The unit also has to be able to hook into plc.

Without more information on the application (size, existing tooling volume etc) it would be hard to say, however a company I have worked with in the past may well be able to help you as they tend to specialise in the design and manufacture of custom tooling and handling/inspection fixtures, for the automotive and aerospace industries, the person to speak to is Mark Brundrit at Cobra Precision Engineering Ltd, 19 PEC, Quartremaine Rd, Portsmouth UK, +44(0)23 9267 7647, hope this is of some use to you. Thanks for the response. We currently have an automated cell with a hydraulic pierce staion a gage and a marking station. The cell is fully automated. The sub assemlby comes in on a conveyor the robot picks up the part then goes through the individual stations. What I would like to do is have a thread chasing and verifying unit incorporated into the marking station. I need to tap and verify that the tap actually tapped. I am not to familiar with any units like this on the market. I appreciate the feed back and will do some research with your reference. Thank you for the reference.

I am not certain that I fully understand?
Are you asking about go no go gages?
Or are you simply checking to see if it is
tapped and not caring about the accuracy?

Thanks for the replies............excellent responses. I have a qoute from eagle with a promess system, but i think i might be able to get away with a unit from chicago pnuematic that we can measure if the clutch engages or not, and then base the rest on time verses distance(laser sensor).
Therefore saving about 9000 dollars per unit. Its not proven yet, but were working on it. Thanks again for the responses, I have a lot more to work wit now.
