Tie New Roof Extension to Existing Truss 1

See attached sketch. For retrofitting an existing roof, we are planning on extending out a new rafter (to match existing roof pitch) out from an existing roof truss. I don't know if this is the best detail to accomplish this. Do you guys have any ideas? Thanks!

kipfoot, these are both great ideas! The first option looks cheaper for materials but may end up being a wash if they have to spend that time cutting out the existing plywood sheathing to slip the splice plate through. I like the second option because it will allow me to keep the bottom sill nailer plate as a continuous member. Thanks!
