Hello,

Does anyone know of a tightening sequence for a 42-bolt-hole flange? It's for closing up a 30" manway on an aboveground storage tank (atmospheric). I've been able to find them for flanges with 40 or 44 bolt holes, but nothing else. If there aren't any that exist, does anyone know of the method for finding a proper sequence? The sequence I came up with is just tightening every 12th bolt (with an occasional offset thrown in, obviously).

Thanks!

Take a look at ASME PCC-1 it splits up large bolting patterns into sectors. Just add a bolt to two of your sectors and you should be fine.

Also look at the latest PCC-2, the 2010 eddition has some interesting alternative bolt up procedures.

Just my two cents worth.

A question properly stated is a problem half solved.
