Hello, I would like to ask for some help with this problem that I want to solve, but I can't see how to approach it
what I have is a plate-Timber-plate connection, with 2 rows of bolts spaced 6.5in, bolts spaced 24in, the columns are (staggered) spaced 4in, my approach at the beginning was to use only a section of the timber-plates arrangement, (the timber and plates are 300in long) so use only a section of 24in with one bolt in this section, and divide the weight of the plates between the number of bolts and applied such resultant force, to find is the timber will fail under such pressure.
I would like to ask for your help on how to calculate such failure of the timber and what formulas to use.
Thanks for your time and attention
