Timber Bridge Deck

Greetings all. I'm working on a proposal to develop a timber decked bridge. Essentially the decking timbers lay transversely on top of steel girders which span my structure.

Some material mentions that you can buy pre-fab timber panels (essentially large crane mats) that can be dropped into place instead of fastening individual timbers

Does any body have any experience with Timber decked bridges, specifically can anyone recommend manufactures of prefab timber laminated panels.

Western Archrib provides a product called Westdek (I think that's how it's spelled). It is a pre-fabricated laminated decking product in multiple depths and lengths.

I would not have thought the CLT's would be used for an exterior application like this, but looking at (

I see they are. My concern would be durability of the glue bond. Another common cheap and cheerful bridge deck we see for forestry style bridges is included in the link below. Basically 6x6, 8x8 or... timbers with 3"x12" or 4"x12" plank decking. Companies prefab the sections into 10'-0" segments for portable bridges in our area.

I took a tour of a local CLT plant and they had a CLT panel that had a epoxy clear coat to seal the wood. I believe the intended use was for bridge decks. I'm not sure if it's something they produce regularly or if it was just a sample panel intended for proof of concept/testing.
