Does anyone have a quick way of closing a lot of open contours in a sketch. Basically what's happening is, I have a lot of parts in autocad which I'm making into 3d models in SW. The parts are pulley's so what I do is bring a cross section of the pulley into SW then revolve the sketch to create the solid. But the sketch I paste in from Autocad is a lot of small line segments which aren't all connected. Currently I go around to each line segment in SW and close the is up by merging the points. This takes a while to do if there are a lot of line segments. Does anyone know a quicker way?

Look into purchasing GearTrax ( and remodel the parts. It's the best $700 you'll ever spend if you work with gear on a regular basis.

How much time have/will you spend merging sketch segments?

You could try the Repair Sketch tool.

It is usually quicker and safer (more accurate) to redraw the profile, rather than try and fix it.
